Despacito was a track from the year 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song worldwide within just 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that attracted attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 in 2015 had two songs mostly of Spanish and the year 2016 featured four. In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly composed in Spanish made it to into the Top 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) and Madonna worked on Medellin with Maluma (2019). By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about its inclination towards mainstream. However, a younger generation, led by Rauw Alejandro, aimed to keep reggaeton evolving. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, as well as different styles was an accepted practice.
